Martin introduces the concept of family metaphor and the paradox attached to it like
"Some long-term employees have experienced a change from a small "family" to a big company atmosphere, and this has caused considerable confusion...... The employees feel that the meaning of the family metaphor has been ambiguous."
The question in today's world is that given this paradox how to manage the family metaphor. As an organization one want to be closely knit as it increases closeness, productivity etc but as the same time want to expand. Then how should we manage the delicate balance especially in the increasing global society and corporations.
