Zantel 9.16

I applaud Deetz for providing the distinctions in the different discourses and providing explanation in their positioning in the different dimensions. It gave me a firmer understanding of organizational communication and its possible directions. He emphasizes the need to not bind the discourses to specific dimensions because they overlap in many regards and may conflict with other approaches that may not fit in those boxes.

1. How can we as a discipline become more open to other approaches that do not "fit in the boxes"?
2. How well is the dialogic discourse accepted as a paradigm in the organizational communication community (Until now, I thought is was situated under critical)?
3. If we continue to use the phase "alternative perspectives", does that not perpetuate boundaries in what is considered acceptable approaches or ways of knowing?
