Question 11/18/10 Jeff Johnson

First off, kudos group 3 on the article choices, the Cheney (1995) piece in particular is one of the best thus far. He does an excellent job of presenting both sides of democracy and supporting and countervailing forces in our current, global environment. Of particular importance in my mind was the relationship between efficiency and commitment in cooperative systems. Though some view this as a tradeoff, it can also be seen as a virtuous cycle where commitment leads to overcoming inefficiency which supports the structure and comes back around to increase commitment. My question is, eloquently stated, do you buy this? In the marketing literature, it is known that too much commitment can have seemingly counterintuitive, deletrious effects and can create inefficiency. This applies to a business-to-business context, however, do you believe it has relevance here?
